ABSTRACT
Introduction
Surgical options with the goal of limb salvage procedure for GCT around the knee joint with endoprosthetic or massive bone graft. Endoprosthetic has some disadvantages applications in Indonesia because the cost. Fibular graft to arthrodesis of the knee joint is the one option. There is still no data regarding this procedure is the reason for this study.
Method
This study by recording of medical records, interview and clinical examination. Cross sectional retrospective case study from June 2008 to June 2013 to patients who underwent this procedure. Eight patients inclusion criteria. The functional outcomes this procedure were assessed by Musculoskeletal Tumor Society Score. Evaluate of the disability occurred, the case incidence of recurrences and the x-ray union post operative. The data were analyzed statistically by non-parametric test
Results
The functional outcomes of patients underwent this procedure were satisfied. The disability occurs does not affect daily activities as appropriate to the needs and their expectations. The incidence of infection and peroneal nerve palsy was reported. The entire fibular graft showed union on the x-ray post surgery.
Discussion
Endoprosthesis durability depends on the age, occupation and sex. There is no differences base on functional outcomes between endoprosthetic and the procedure were assessed by Musculoskeletal Tumor Society Score. Inexpensive procedure of choice in this country.
